Working while studying abroad (Work&Study) is among the plans of many students.
Work and Study are programs where you can have a chance to get a legal work permit while studying. For certain countries, you can get a legal work permit while continuing your language education and diploma or certificate programs.
These programs have different conditions for each country. Now let's take a look at the countries and programs that grant work permits:
Country: Ireland
Type of Education: Language Course
Duration of Education: 25 Weeks (8 months with 8 weeks of vacation)
Program Type: Students who enroll in a 25-week language course in Ireland are given a 3-month entry visa from Türkiye. Candidates who go to Ireland apply for a residence and legal work permit in their first month after going to Ireland. An additional €300 payment is made in Ireland for this. Candidates have a legal work permit of 20 hours per week (part-time) while continuing their language education.
Additional Information: After your first 33 weeks in Ireland, you have the chance to extend your language education 2 more times. In other words, you can stay with language education for up to 2 years in total.
Country: Australia
Education Type: Language Course
Education Duration: 24 Weeks
Program Type: The student visa received by candidates applying for a 6-month language course in Australia is a type of visa that also includes a legal work permit. In this way, candidates have a legal work permit as soon as they go to Australia. You will have a work permit for 20 hours per week (part-time) while continuing your language education.
Additional Information: The student visa received for Australia is also an extendable visa. Candidates who want to extend their course within the borders of Australia or continue their different diploma/undergraduate/master's degree education can extend their visa within the borders of Australia.
Country: Malta
Type of Education: Language Course
Duration of Education: 24 Weeks
Program Type: Candidates who go to Malta for 6 months for language education do not have a legal work permit for the first 3 months. You can apply for a legal work permit and start working from the 91st day. An additional €230 is paid in Malta for this. You will have a work permit for 20 hours per week (part-time) while continuing your language education.
Additional Information: The student visa obtained for Malta is also an extendable visa. Candidates who want to extend their course or continue different programs within the borders of Malta can extend their visas within the borders of Malta.
Country: Canada
Type of Education: Certificate/Diploma CO-OP
Duration of Education: Between 30-92 Weeks
Program Type: Candidates who go to various certificate and diploma CO-OP programs offered by private colleges in Canada have a work permit of 20 hours per week (part-time) during their education period and 40 hours per week (full-time) during the paid internship (CO-OP) period. Part of the program period consists of education and part of the paid internship period.
Additional Information: Candidates are required to have a certain level of language for programs in Canada. This level of language varies according to the preferred certificate/diploma programs, but on average it is IELTS 4.5-5.5.
In Work and Study programs, candidates do not need to have any level of language for those done with a language school.
However, considering that you will start working life, it would not be right for a candidate at the beginning level to expect to find a job as soon as they go. In these programs, job placements are not made by schools or consulting firms. Candidates find their own part-time jobs.
Only for programs in Canada, since there are certificate/diploma programs in certain fields, not language schools, candidates must have a certain level of language proficiency. In addition, although candidates find their own jobs during the part-time period, their job placements are made by schools during the CO-OP, or paid internship, period.
